The Game
Backgammon combines elements of both skill and luck, the game is played by two players with 15
disks (also called checkers) which move between 24 triangles (also called points)
according to rolls of the
dice.
The object of the game is to move all 15 checkers home, and than bear all of
them off before the other player.
History
People all around the world play Backgammon all the time, but not
many of them are familiar with the origins of the game. The
Backgammon game as we know it today is only a variation of so called
"Race Games", in which the goal is to reach the destiny square
first. This game is one of the oldest known documented games and has
been played in one variation or another for more than 6,000 years.
The Backgammon game is mentioned in writings found in Early Greece,
Rome and the Far East. Moreover, remains of wood boards and game
tools made of stone from the ancient Egyptian kingdom had been
found.
